The Streaming Giant Chooses Perfect Actor for Mr. 2 in One Piece Third Season

Baroque Works is set to make a major impact in the forthcoming season on Netflix of One Piece, though the major clash won’t take place until the next season, and a beloved, popular member has just been cast.

Netflix announced Tuesday that the talented performer is now part of the One Piece season 3 cast and will embody Mr. 2. The role can use their power to change into an exact copy of anyone they’ve touched with their main hand. The actor, who is gender non-conforming and uses they/them pronouns, will depict a rendition of that role reinterpreted as gender non-binary, instead of as a drag performer, in the real-life adaptation, differing from the source material and cartoon version.

Escola is joined by multiple recently announced actors tasked with bringing the group to the screen, including chief Sir Crocodile, brought to life by Joe Manganiello, Sophia Anne Caruso as Miss Goldenweek, and Sendhil Ramamurthy, who will appear as the lineup as King Nefertari Cobra of Alabasta.

Though the role is a major member of Baroque Works, the individual won’t make their debut One Piece the upcoming installment. Considering season 2 likely to portray the Little Garden storyline, this represents a notable change in the schedule of Bon Clay’s introduction, one that could suggest further changes to the story’s structure.

Escola’s blend of precise humor and deep sensitivity makes them a standout choice for the character. In addition to their current animated role in the animated coming-of-age film Boys Go to Jupiter, they earned widespread acclaim and several accolades for writing and starring in the hit comedy play Oh Mary!, showcasing the adaptability they’ll add to one of One Piece’s most celebrated figures.

The platform’s adapted One Piece show is set to return for its next installment on March 10, 2026.
