'Living a Nightmare': Relatives of Unaccounted For Teens Await Information After Ski Resort Blaze

The relatives of teenagers unaccounted for after a tragic inferno at a bar in a Swiss ski resort are facing an painful wait for answers and requesting information about their children online.

The blaze engulfed the Le Constellation bar in Cans-Montana, located in the Swiss Alps of the Valais region, in the middle of the night of New Year's Day. Verified video show the ceiling igniting as beverages with fireworks are raised in celebration.

Authorities have warned that it could take days if not weeks to formally name the victims of the fire, which claimed the lives of 40 people and hurt another over a hundred. Authorities stated on Friday that 113 of the injured have been identified, with work continuing to name the remaining few.

In the meantime, families and friends have been taking to the internet to plead for information about their loved ones who were present at the venue that evening.

Heartbreaking Pleas for the Unaccounted For

The location of teenager from Switzerland Arthur Brodard, a teenager, are currently unknown, according to an appeal from his mother.

The resident of Lutry near Lausanne, told a publication that she had gone back to Lausanne to check whether he was in the hospital, while his other parent did the equivalent search in Bern, but could not find him.

She added that some of his friends had been discovered with injuries covering nearly half their bodies. "It's unspeakable; they endured an absolute nightmare."

The Italian government has said that a number of of its young people have not been located.

Other Missing Individuals

Giovanni Tamburi, 16, is also unaccounted for. His parent told reporters that he had been on vacation but had ventured out with friends and ended up at the bar.

"A companion said they ran away after the fire broke out and that he had his phone with him, but then at a certain point he lost sight of him," she explained, adding he had been wearing a identifiable gold chain.

One of his educators stated, "I've always been struck by his good nature and positive demeanor, coupled with great responsibility. He would frequently ask if help out."

Alice Kallergis, who holds both Swiss and Greek nationality but lives full-time in the country, was also at the bar on that night, according to reports.

Her brother has published an appeal on social media, saying the relatives has had "no information" regarding the teenager or the three friends she was with, who are also unaccounted for.

Consular authorities from her other nation say they are closely watching the case.
