Liverpool's Star Extends Apology to Squad, Reveals Curtis Jones
The Liverpool midfielder has shared that the Egyptian forward expressed regret to the team following the fallout from his public comments.
What Happened
He was omitted from a key Champions League match subsequent to voicing frustrations and suggesting his relationship with manager had deteriorated.
“He speaks for himself and he can say his own stuff,” Jones revealed. “He said sorry to the group and was like: ‘If my words hurt anyone, I apologise.’”
The manager has chosen not to disclose on whether he received a personal apology from the veteran striker.
Moving Forward
Jones insisted that the team's response was unchanged. “He was the exact same Mo, his demeanour was positive and we all treated him normally,” the midfielder explained.
The midfielder also suggested that a player's desire to start is a positive trait. “It's clear there are different methods you can go about things,” he said. “However, if a player is content to just be on the bench, then I think that’s concerning.”
Positive Results
The team's performance have been impressive in the games following the interview fallout. Jones believes the Salah's words were not intended to harm the team.
“If passion has boiled over, the source has been from a place of caring,” Jones concluded. “It's behind us and we’re gelling well as a team, performing and starting to win games.”
