Football Expert Chris Sutton Battles Singer Olly Murs in Premier League Predictions
The Gunners' ten-match winning streak was ended by the Black Cats prior to the global hiatus, however will the Premier League leaders recover against local foes Spurs this weekend?
"{I feel like Arsenal are miles ahead of Tottenham at the moment but Spurs manager Thomas Frank will have a plan for this game," stated football specialist Chris Sutton.
"The Spurs manager will try to nullify Arsenal, who have not always been at their scintillating finest this campaign - but Mikel Arteta's side typically still manage to win."
Sutton is forecasting results for all 380 Premier League games this season, versus artificial intelligence, readers and a range of guests.
For the twelfth round, he takes on singer Olly Murs, who is a Manchester United supporter.
The singer's latest album, Knees Up, is available on Friday.
Football and Parenting Experiences
Olly is a talented footballer as well as a accomplished singer and has been a featured player of multiple Soccer Aid games down the years - but he is not intending a professional comeback as a player.
"{I actually played in a benefit match the other night for a friend of mine," he explained. "My team was losing 3-1 when I came off in the 60th minute, and they proceeded to win 4-3, so you can read into that what you will!
"I continue to love football, but I injured my knee a few years ago and it even now isn't where I want it to be. I hope I could play more but the unpredictability of the sport means it's too dangerous for me in my profession to do it properly again.
"Plus I am 41 now, and we are not everyone is Cristiano Ronaldo, are we!? No, I am very content not playing football and I am gearing up for the time that my child or son decides to play instead."
The singer and his spouse his partner have two children, Madison and their son, and he is ready to emulate his dad by taking on the role of their coach.
"I won't force football on our kids but I've already told Amelia that if they happen to get the bug for it then I will have to go and get my manager qualifications - and I will likely be coaching their Saturday soccer side," he added.
"I observed my nephews play a lot, and I really got into it, and I clearly owned a football club for a while too.
"My father coached with us when I was a child, which is likely where I get it from. He managed our side for two or three years and had great fun with it. That might be the future for me as well, and I am excited to it!"
Top Division Predictions
Saturday, 22 November
- Turf Moor, 12:30 GMT
Chelsea may have to be patient for Cole Palmer's return from injury but their attack is now more potent with Joao Pedro and Delap both returned to fitness.
I still think this game will be quite close, though. The Clarets are disciplined and their sole at Turf Moor losses so far have been against Liverpool and Arsenal.
This suggests a 1-1 draw to me, but I am actually going to choose Chelsea to win narrowly for what would be their third Premier League win in a row.
Sutton's prediction: 1-2
The singer's pick: The Blues will be superior. 1-3
Artificial intelligence's prediction: 0-2
- Vitality Stadium, 15:00 GMT
The Cherries have been defeated in their previous couple matches - although both of them were away - but they got thoroughly beaten by Villa last time out which shocked me.
In contrast, the Hammers won back-to-back victories before the international break and, although both of those games were at home, they do look competitive again.
West Ham's sole on the road victory this campaign came at Forest in the summer, when West Ham manager Nuno was previously that team's coach.
So, what exactly do I predict here - will it be the Hammers continuing their run under their manager, or Bournemouth responding?
I am going to choose Bournemouth, because I believe what occurred against Aston Villa was a anomaly.
The pundit's prediction: 2-0
Olly's outlook: The home team are performing strongly but the visitors have improved under Nuno. 2-2
The algorithm's prediction: 1-1
- Amex Stadium, 15:00 GMT
Brentford were seen as one of the frontrunners for relegation before the campaign began, but they have impressed a few observers under their manager and are in good form with three in their past four games.
My son advised me to select Bees forward Igor Thiago in my fantasy soccer squad a few weeks back and, unfortunately, I didn't listen.
Thiago will likely score again on the weekend but I am nonetheless not going to pick him or back Brentford at Amex Stadium.
The Bees have not had great success on the road this term, and the Seagulls are always decent at home. The visitors will attempt to attack on the break but I think the home manager's side pose much more of a threat.
Sutton's prediction: 2-1
Olly's prediction: It could be a match where you expect there is going to be a many goals but it in reality proves to be rather tight. 1-1
AI's outcome: 2-1
- Craven Cottage, 15:00 GMT
This is a massive game for the Cottagers, who have lost five of their past six games.
Fulham have got plenty of talent in their squad but it still seems like they could be sucked into a relegation fight.
Regarding the Black Cats, indeed they are the surprise package of the Premier League campaign so far.
The away side's display in the 2-2 draw with Arsenal last time out was superb. We've not seen any other team disrupt the North London side like that this term, and Sunderland were more than a match for them.
The logical choice to do to back the visitors here, because they are obviously capable of roughing the hosts up too and, the last time they were in this part of London, they beat the Blues at the end of October.
But I am not going to choose that. Instead, I really need to carry on going against the away team with my forecasts. I am taking a lot of credit for their good outcomes because they evidently love to defy my predictions.
Looking at Fulham's at Craven Cottage form, the sole side they have been defeated by is Arsenal. Marco Silva's side will be absolutely desperate for a positive outcome, so I am going to predict they will secure three points.
The expert's forecast: 1-0
Olly's choice: I'm aware Sunderland are performing strongly and also that Fulham are on a bad run... but they have nonetheless been decent at home this campaign. 2-0
AI's prediction: 2-0
- Anfield, 15:00 GMT
It is a tough fixture to call. The Reds have lost seven of their past 10 games in all competitions, but might they be one of the teams who benefit from the {international break|
